This unexpected demise comes as Namibia gears up for presidential and parliamentary elections in November.

The news adds a poignant twist to the political landscape, with the ruling Swapo party already nominating Mrs. Nandi-Ndaitwah as their presidential candidate.

Currently serving as Namibia’s deputy prime minister, her potential victory would mark a historic moment as she would become the country’s first female president.

As the nation mourns Geingob’s passing, the political transition takes on new significance, setting the stage for a potential shift in leadership after three decades of Swapo’s rule.
