Benue State High Court has decided on the suspension of Iyorchia Ayu, former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In March, Ayu was suspended by his Nyorov council ward exco members due to failure to pay dues, which abruptly ended his reign as National Chairman of PDP.

Ayu was alleged by the ward exco to have facilitated and encouraged anti-party activities after which a vote of no confidence was passed on him.

Secretary of party in Igyorov ward, Vanger Dooyum, said Ayu’s anti-party activities contributed to PDP’s loss in his ward and local government in the governorship election.

During the governorship and state assembly elections held on the 18th of March, 2023, the PDP chieftain was said to not have voted on his own Accord.

The majority of Ayu’s closest allies worked for the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) which subsequently lead to the poor performance of the PDP in Igyorov Ward.
