The US Bureau of Prisons has initiated an investigation into the activities of Nigerian convict Ramon “Hushpuppi” Abbas, who is currently serving an 11-year sentence.
The move comes after a viral video surfaced allegedly showcasing Hushpuppi hosting a lavish feast inside what appears to be his detention facility in Fort Dix, New Jersey.
The prison facility, addressing the matter, stated, “We take these matters seriously,” and disclosed their intention to establish an “investigative department” to delve into the authenticity of the viral video.
On January 22, 2024, Tunde Adekunle, alias Tunde Ednut, marked his birthday, attracting a celebration that extended even behind prison walls.
The video, widely circulated on social media, portrayed an array of dishes, including jollof rice, pasta, and soda drinks, leading many to question the conditions of Hushpuppi’s incarceration.
A voice in the video, presumed to be Hushpuppi, exclaimed, “You can see that we are celebrating you in our own little way, Tude Ednut. Happy birthday, Tunde Ednut! Fried rice is ready,” creating a ripple of speculation about the extent of privileges within the prison system.
The People Gazettes conducted an analysis, highlighting the setting’s features resembling a prison, intensifying suspicions that Hushpuppi might be enjoying a lavish celebration behind bars in honor of his friend’s birthday.
