Liverpool’s hopes for maintaining their lead in both the Premier League and the Carabao Cup have taken a hit with the news that star goalkeeper Alisson Becker will be sidelined for an extended period due to injury.

This brings about Brazil’s decision to also exclude him from the upcoming friendlies against England and Spain further compounds the situation for the Anfield club.

Alisson’s absence was notable in Liverpool’s recent victories over Burnley and Brentford, and his exclusion from the squad for the upcoming Premier League clash against Luton and the Carabao Cup final against Chelsea underscores the severity of his injury.

Brazil’s manager, Dorival Junior, confirmed that Alisson will not be part of the squad for the friendlies, indicating a prolonged spell on the sidelines.

Speaking to TNT Sports, Dorival Junior remarked, “In terms of possible call-ups, all the names mentioned are important players and have some prominence in their teams. They would indeed be on a pre-list.” He added, “In particular, some players who had slightly more serious injuries, such as Alisson, Matheus Cunha, Joao Pedro, and even Neymar, are removed from any possibility at this moment.”

With crucial fixtures against Manchester City and Everton looming after the Carabao Cup final, Liverpool faces a challenging period without their key goalkeeper.

Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s manager, expressed concern over the situation, stating, “So, not available is Ali, that’s a muscle injury where we don’t know exactly how long it takes but not for the foreseeable time coming back.”

In Alisson’s absence, Irish goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher will step up to fill the void. Liverpool will heavily rely on Kelleher’s abilities as they aim to navigate through a demanding schedule and maintain their position at the top of the Premier League table.

As Liverpool prepares for these crucial fixtures, the absence of Alisson presents a significant hurdle. The Reds will need to rally together and adapt swiftly to overcome this setback in their pursuit of domestic and continental success.
